Last Saturday, August 15th was a great day for the Iloilo Bloggers! As most of you have already heard, the core members of the Iloilo Bloggers met for lunch last Saturday at Fort San Pedro Restaurant. We finally got to meet other Ilonggo bloggers offline and they are actually more interesting in person! Of course as usual Junelle, Claire, Marcos, Mary Jane, Junnjun and Efren were present. Antoine Greg also attended as well as some of Junnjun’s photographer friends, one of them is Ronald Medina whom we recruited to become a member of the Iloilo Bloggers too.
After having our delicious lunch we discussed the future of our group and elected our officers. Our main goal is to make the Iloilo Bloggers an active group and to recruit more members as well. When we have more members and become an active group, we will be able to promote Iloilo not only locally but also in the interwebs. We will be able to uplift Iloilo’s reputation online and offline. It is also our mission to promote blogging here in Iloilo and to make it known that bloggers are opinionated people who should be taken seriously.
We also made plans to organize events in the future. We might get involved in Iloilo’s IT Week this coming September. And there are also plans of having Miss Janette Toral and Aileen Apolo to come visit Iloilo to meet with the local bloggers. We are also looking into registering our group with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-profit organization so we could have IDs made for every member. We have also talked about organizing blogging workshops and outreach programs.
We are looking for sponsors for our future events and for the printing of the Iloilo Bloggers t-shirt for the members who still don’t have them yet. Take note that all of this are just plans and we need the help of every Iloilo Bloggers member to put this plans into action. We need everyone’s cooperation so please attend out next meet-up guys! We will have 2 meet-ups every month and the next meet-up will be on September 5, 4PM at JD – Emilion (near San Ag). See you then!
The list of officers can be found here.
